My original concert review:
WOW! What a night! I was second row center, the closest i've ever been for Tori! The whole experience was AMAZING! She was so beautiful, she played an AMAZING set, and she sounded great! i was SO close....*sigh* it was heavenly...
1. Wampum Prayer....i couldn't contain myself...oh my god she was gonna come out any minute and be RIGHT in front of me
2. a sorta fairytale...and then there she was...stolling on stage, shakin it, in a beautiful dress, jean cut-offs, and leopard print boots...she was beautiful...though i still think "sorta" doesn't translate well to the stage, it was far better at this show than at riverside and camden...
3. Pancake...great performance...god, she's beautiful!
i believe it was after "pancake" that she introduced the band and spoke about how much she loves the oakdale because it's very cozy...
4. Cornflake Girl...every time i see her, i discover more and more of her talent on the piano! but being so close, i especially noticed how talented she is...
5. Lust...very nicely done...
6. Sweet Sangria...LOVE LOVE LOVE this song...
7. Crazy...first time seeing this one...not a huge fan of this one on the record, but after seeing it live...wow...it's gorgeous...i love the "unzip your religion down" part...
8. Crucify...when she plays that piano during this one...wow! i love this fucking woman!
9. Wednesday...yay! yay! yay! so funky, so sexy, so awesome!
SECRETIME AT THE ROADSIDE CAFE
Friends Improv...not really a song, so i won't number it, but this one was GORGEOUS! she started out by singing about the roadside cafe sign, and how it lights up sometimes (then, of course it lit up), and then she started singing about those people that have left us and died, and she ended it with something like "i still feel him sometimes..." it was quite long for an improv and really quite beautiful...the whole night she made many references to the late Kevyn Aucoin...each was very moving.
10. Icicle..woohoo! such a great performance of such a great song...
11. Baker Baker...absolutely beautiful...the way she did this one was breath-taking....
12. On Saturday Afternoons in 1963...word is that this is a Rickie Lee Jones cover...well, whatever it was, it was sooo moving...god, i have to get a copy of this one...she does covers SO well, and this one was no exception....*sigh*...something else worth noting ws that there was that during one of the lines, she said "years just went by, Kevyn"...a very clear reference to her lost friend...
(Band returns)
13. Strange...after hearing this one live twice, it's definitely becoming a great Tori song in my book...before she started singing this one, someone screamed quite loudly, and she just stopped and laughed, then went into the song...it was very cute...
14. Juarez...i was actually expecting this one because i overheard someone talking about how they requested it and Tori had promised to play it....anywho, i LOVE this song, and it was SUCH an amazing performance of it...she did it on the piano, and what she played echoed the solo version...it definitely was just as powerful with the band...a definite highlight of the night!
15. Another Girl's Paradise...i was SO happy to see this one...it translated very well to the stage....
16. Take To The Sky...still diggin this extended version...god, she's SO close!
17. Hotel...second time seeing this on this tour...and still fuckin awesome! just as a side note, i really liked the lights on this one!
18. I Can't See New York...still very powerful...
19. Spring Haze...tho i've seen it all three times this tour and a couple of times before, it didn't even matter because she could have done anything, and i would have loved it...just to see her up close with so much raw emotion and energy and talent, it was amazing!
1st Encore
20. Taxi Ride...yay! flavorite from the album! i thought it was much improved from the camden show...spectacular! as many of us know, this song is wasin many ways written for Kevyn.
21. Honey...yippy! i've never seen this one with the band...they complimented the song very well! a great performance!
22. Songbird...the band left and WOW! this one was SOOO beautiful! it was such a highlight and so gorgeous....just wow! i've never heard the fleetwood mac original, but damn, what a song! this was another reference to Kevyn, as it was obvious dedicated to her because she sang, "for you, they'll be no more crying, Kev"...she's really lost one of her best friends... :(
2nd Encore
23. In The Springtime Of His Voodoo...still just as funky and bluesy as the camden performance...sooo good!
24. Past The Mission....what a great closer! the song sounded amazing!
overall, it was one of the most unforgettable nights i've ever experienced. it was pure magic. this woman, whom i've been following for six years, has never ceased to hypnotize and amaze me...her voice, the tickling of the piano's ivories, and just her presence is breath-taking...she is truly someone special...and this night's ending was far superior to any sorta fairytale i've ever read...
thank you, Tori Amos...thank you.
"and i love you, i love you, i love you, like never before..."
